Links to the real world

The knowledge of the online encyclopedia Wikipedia is linked to real objects and places by the project Semapedia.
The user only needs to type a Wikipedia-URL on the website of Semapedia and a 2D-barcode will be created. This barcode can be printed out an attached to the described object or place. Interested persons then take a picture with their cell phone and activate the Semacode reader in order to receive the according information via GPRS from the internet. The information will be shown in the Smartphone browser of the cell phone. In principle, every website can be linked via this method and used for commercial applications.
