Market volume of video surveillance doubles until 2010

The use of video surveillance will strongly increase during the next years.

Next to private customers, who install video systems at train stations, airports and bank building, especially governmental organisation are thinking about video surveillance.
With an estimated four million installed monitoring cameras, Great Britain is on top of the countries using CCTV. But things have also changed in Germany. Some of the Länder have provided the basis by revising police laws.

Accordingly, the surveillance industry booms. Experts even forecast that the market volume for video surveillance systems in Germany will increase from 327 million Euro last year to 455 million Euro in 2010. For the worldwide sector the market researcher Frost & Sullivan forecast a yearly growth of 11.3 percent.

At EU level, European countries collaborate within the project UrbanEye to document existing surveillance systems.
