After working at the United Nations and for the aid organisation Oxfam in Sierra Leone, it was an encounter with a homeless man, Uwe Schneider, in Hamburg that particularly shaped Ole Seidenberg’s experience with social media. Uwe Schneider was able to make a fresh start in 2009 after he and Seidenberg raised over 4,000 euros in donations via blogs and YouTube and he finally found an apartment. nest organises the re:campaign conference annually and publishes the guidelines Social Media for NGOs. Ole Seidenberg is the founder and managing director of the nest Social Media Agency. As well as coordinating the Berlin Green Party’s election campaign, nest has also managed campaigns for terre des hommes, the Verbraucher-Initiative consumer organisation and the Caritas association.
