In seinem Vortrag „What is Web 2.0: Design Patterns and Business Models for the Next Generation of Software” befasste er sich mit den wesentlichen Eigenschaften von „Web 2.0“-Anwendungen. Als beispielhafte Prinzipien nannte er hier „Web as a Platform“, „Software as a Service”, „Harnessing collective intelligence” und „Data is the next Intel Inside”.

Gemäß dem Zitat von William Gibson „The future has already arrived.

Was haben erfolgreiche „Web2.0“-Applikationen gemeinsam?

- Web as a platform
- Software as a Service
- Harnessing collective intelligence
- Data is the next Intel Inside

Dresdner Zukunftsforum.

Tomorrow, the 2nd Dresden Future Forum starts. We are looking forward to impressive speeches and lively discussion.

More than 300 guests are invited to discuss the life in the digital world. During the morning speeches, the topics globalization of markets and innovation will be elaborated. In the afternoon sessions, the focus will be put on the Future of the Internet. Experts of that field will speak about upcoming technologies and their impact on human lives.

This week, the German magazine Spiegel has published an interview with Jaron Lanier in which he warns of the impacts of collective intelligence. Despite some positive effects of the Internet like openness, the rapid and anti-evolutionary development of information technologies is a critical aspect in the digital world. Tim O’Reilly, on the other hand, favors in a recent blog post on his O’Reilly Radar blog, the idea of “harnessing collective intelligence” by Web 2.0 services. In this blog entry, he distinguishes this term from user-generated content.

These controversial viewpoints alone let us expect a lively discussion at the 2nd Dresden Future Forum. For all of you, who cannot attend the forum personally, we will blog about the speeches live. After the forum, you can watch the webcasts of the speeches on this website.

The topic of his keynote speech:
What Is Web 2.0: Design Patterns and Business Models for the Next Generation of Software
The bursting of the dot-com bubble in the fall of 2001 marked a turning point for the web. Yet far from having “crashed,” the web is more important than ever. Its resurgence is spurred by a critical mass of exciting new applications and sites that share common principles and practices, dubbed “Web 2.0″ by O’Reilly Media. In his keynote, Tim O’Reilly explores the design patterns and business models characteristic of Web 2.0 companies.

Haven’t we heard of this title before? Yes, of course.

In this article, Tim O’Reilly describes how Web2.0 services have been evolved and what Web 2.0 means for business.
Also, listen to the podcast “O’Reilly’s Guide to Web2.0″: Tim O’Reilly explains the new era of the Internet after the dotcom-buzz and what companies can learn if they carefully study the changes in the business and apply new services to their communication needs along the supply chain.
